Fata Antoinette Togba-Mensah is a wife, mother, educator, author, textile artist and the creator of Select by FAs. Togba-Mensah is a native of Liberia and holds a Masters degree in Education. She is an avid traveler who enjoys incorporating her love for culture, the arts and education into her work.
Her love for the arts began at a young age in her native country Liberia. As a child, her creativity was encouraged by talented people, who encouraged her creativity. Her grandfather, an engaging orator, would routinely retell traditional folk tales to his grandkids. Both her mother and grandmother were professional sewers. Her grandmother was a self-taught quilter, who combined colorful fabrics and prints to create everyday patterns in her handmade quilts. Togba-Mensah also spent much of her childhood in her mom’s sewing room creating dolls and other crafts while learning tricks and tips from her mother and the sewing staff.
Togba-Mensah currently creates soft toys and other crafts, writes and illustrates children’s books, as well as teaches sewing and crafts classes. She enjoys using her arts as a platform to share and educate others about her culture.
